Upwood Pre-School runs from the school dining room, on weekday mornings from 9am-11.30am term time only. Children are admitted during the term that they are 3 years old, with families being offered a home visit prior to their child starting. All children bring in a healthy snack (fruit/cheese/vegetable) each day, which is cut up and shared as a mid morning snack. Fruit juice,water or milk are also provided.

Upwood Pre-school is a Committee run group, which means that you can be actively involved in your child's education.

The adult to child ratio is 1:6.

The Pre-School is registered with Ofsted so that we can receive the Early Years Grant. Most recent inspection results were 'Good', with two areas of outstanding practice.

Aims

  • To maintain a happy and friendly ethos.
  • To provide an exciting and stimulating environment, one that is safe and secure where children can learn through play.
  • To provide a curriculum that takes account of children's interests and ensures that all children can develop to their full potential.

Objectives

  • By the time your child enters compulsory education he/she will have made progress towards the Early Learning Goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Developed a positive attitude to learning through play, creating the best possible chance of becoming independent, life-long learners.
  • Used creativity across the curriculum to enhance exploration and problem solving skills.
  • Become familiar with the school environment and the adults within.
