The School Council
The School Council is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved in the way the school is run. The School Council benefits the whole school, pupils and teachers, because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made. Councillors develop skills such as confidence, communication and negotiation.

The United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, is a list of basic rights that all children have. Article 12 states that children have the right to express their views and for their views to be listened to. The School Council supports this right. It is the responsibility of each Councillor to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the other pupils they represent.
What kind of qualities should a Councillor have? The following list has been drawn up by our School Council:

The School Councillors have special events and activities that they participate in each year. These include: choosing poems for the Christmas Service, running the Christmas and Summer tombola stalls, and presenting the PowerPoint presentation at the New Intake Meeting.
